 Check out this video about the Constitution for Schoolhouse Rock!

The Constitution is the highest law in the United States. All other laws come from the Constitution. It says how the government works. It creates the Presidency. It creates the Congress. It creates the Supreme Court. Each state also has a constitution. The constitutions of the states are their highest law for that state — but the United States Constitution is higher. Read on to learn more about the constitution.

  1. You must read and annotate the article. Here's an example of what annotation looks like on a written article. You should have margin notes, you should underline main ideas of each paragraph, and you should circle words you don't know the meaning of.
